THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Thank you everyone for a wonderful wedding shower on Saturday! Ryan and I are both overwhelmed by everyone's thoughtfulness and generosity. My apartment is quickly being transformed into a home for us, and we could not be more blessed. Everyone has an open invitation whenever you're in the Milwaukee area...I've got plenty of great tools for some good cooking! :)
Thank you so much---hope to see you all in 2 and a half weeks!!!

How we spent our New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve, Ryan and Eric decided to play on the bunk beds at our friends house (they weren't supposed to). We all heard a loud thud and went into the bedroom and discovered that they had both fallen off the top bunk. Eric cried for a minute and started playing. Ryan cried and cried and cried and told us his arm hurt. We decided to take him to the E.R. In the E.R, Ryan never cried and joked with the X-ray tech and the doctor. Ryan broke his arm near his wrist (just a small fracture). We
celebrated the new year in the E.R.!

President Ford in Grand Rapids

Today Missy and I took Raleigh and Sydney to see President Ford's Motorcade from Gerald R. Ford Airport in Grand Rapids to the Ford Museum where he is going to be buried. The neighborhood where we live backs up to I-96 so we walked less than a quarter of a mile and watched from right near the highway. There was quite a large group of people watching from where we were, waving flags and holding signs. We saw the Ford family photographer taking pictures from his car window near the front of the motorcade and one of the Ford girls (the long haired blonde) was waving from her car. Although Raleigh was cold, she had a great time waving her flag. I think she was a little confused to see everything happen on TV and then see it in real life. Anyway, I am sure many people are not really paying attention to this funeral but in Grand Rapids, it is HUGE!! It has been really interesting to see all the media coverage and hear all the stories. James' mom told us the other day that James' grandpa knew Gerald Ford - what a small world.
