Want to lose a few?

Hey All!
Holli, Ben, Missy, and I are going to run the 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) in the "Borgess Run for the Health of It" on Saturday, April 29th. We'd love to have others join us!
I know, I know...13.1 miles seems like an impossible feat, especially if you haven't run before. BUT, we're starting VERY slowly, following the same book ("The NON-runners' Guide to a Marathon") that Holli, Missy, and I used to complete our marathons. Seriously, it is a do-able feat! Even if you've never run long distance, you can do this! And April is just before swimsuit and cottage season....what a great way to lose some extra pounds and get connected with the family! :)
If you're even considering (Heidi is), shoot me an email (kmjoy1@yahoo.com) and I can send you a training schedule. It's a lot of fun, and it feels great to accomplish such a goal...

Comments:
Kristen, when you mentioned it at the shower, I really wanted to do it---but the date of the run is my sister's wedding---so I am out, but still would like info. on the training schedule so send me the email when you have a chance. I would like to see if I can actually get my butt into gear and try to run more than a minute without being so "exhausted"!-ahahah

Cya tomorrow night!

Count me in...MAYBE:)
Gretchen

Wish I were out there with you -- I would definetely join in. I like to run with Chris but it gets a little old running with someone who has been doing triathlons since he was 16. Hey, I've got an idea... come train at altitude, then you'll have a leg up on those other michiganders.

Hmmmm, I like Suzi's idea a whole lot better---sign me up :)

I'm in, since I'm already training for the River Bank Run on May 13; which is 15.5 miles. Hey, maybe everyone who does the 13.1 mile race can go 2.5 more miles a couple weeks later and we can all do the River Bank Run.

When it says "I'm in" and the post is from Dave & Ceci Roberts, it most definately means DAVE is in.
Suzi, who should bring the doughnuts?

The River Bank Run sounds good to me...is that the one in GR? Suzi, can you cheer at that one, too? :)

Alright...I just got done running my first 2 miles, and I'm dying...I don't know about this:) I'll keep trying though

Too bad Michigan isn't closer. I'd join in. At the moment I'm too busy stuffing my face with chocolate chip cookies.

Anyone else is welcome to join me August 12th in Leadville for the 100 mile mountain bike ride though!

This is Chris BTW :)

The River Bank Run is downtown Grand Rapids. I think we should make this a 2 week running adventure.

By the way, Ceci is thinking about doing the run, so all you girls encourage her to do it.

Yes, Ceci! You've got to run with us...Seriously, it gets "fun" after you commit to it. I hope you (and others) decide to try. Way to go, Gretchen! In a couple of weeks, 2 miles will be nothing! I'll email you the training schedule that Hol and I are gonna use. Keep it up!

Ceci, if I can do this you most definitely can!! -Gretchen

I would most definitely do this run. Unfortunately, I will probably be on the beach in New Zealand somewhere sipping on a strawberry dacquri. Have fun running in the States.

I'm in- I'm in! I have to get in on this epic-long blog comment section. It sounds fun! I don't love running- but somehow, someway- I'll get the job done. Or else, I'll eat doughnuts on the sidelines!!
Chris- you do triathlons?
In Colorado?
WOW!!!!

Well, I finally checked the family blog site and I'm going to say that I won't be able to make it, but you can practice running to North Carolina if you like! I'll even give you water, for FREE, if you like! But, I wouldn't count on Suzi representing the crowd with a large sign. She and Matt picked me up at the airport around Xmas with Matt holding a HUGE poster and TINY writing of my name, and Suzi holding one that says,"...or JOEY HARRINGTON!" Good luck with her sign making ability! Have fun running anyway!!!!! ~Tanya
